The Ice Hockey World Championship 2021 will be held for the fourth time in two countries at once - Belarus and Latvia (Minsk and Riga). Both countries will host the World Cup for the second time.
Their participation in the championship was guaranteed by the national team of Belarus and the national team of Latvia as host countries, as well as the national teams that took the first two places in the 2019 World Cup first division tournament. Another 12 national teams qualified for the tournament at the end of the 2019 World Cup.
